Project details: The key objective of assignment was the evaluation of Climate Change Adaptation in North Eastern region of India, which has contributed in enhancing economic, environmental and social conditions within the implementation sectors in the face of changing climate. CCA-NER is an Indo-German development project financed by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The program aims “To strengthen adaptive capacities of target groups, therewith reducing their vulnerabilities to climate change in a target-oriented manner”. The program is being implemented in the states of Meghalaya, Nagaland and Sikkim representing different geographical and bioclimatic zones of the eastern Himalayan Biodiversity Hotspot with rural population as the target group, which is being strengthened for adapting better to the likely consequences of climate change. The methodology for the evaluation of the CCA-NER program was undertaken at three levels viz.

Eri Peace Silk in Meghalaya and Nagaland
During the evaluation of the CCA-NER program the assessment team, focused on the achievements in terms of financial achievement and physical achievement as prescribed by the funding and implementing agencies in terms of milestones for the program activities. In addition to this gender parity and social equity analysis of the CCA-NER programs were also conducted in conjunction with the evaluation activities. As an outcome of the assessment, bottlenecks were identified within the program and recommendations were provided for the betterment of the same. Further, the assessment team also provided its suggestion regarding the cross-fertilization of the programs within the ambit of CCA-NER for an integrated approach of the operations.
